Artificial Evolution 2024

Silkscreen printed posters

This project is based on academic and site-based research on human evolution and my personal imagination of a speculative sci-fi future where humans evolve to live in both cities on land and underwater cities due to microplastics and environmental pollution. The first part, a series of silkscreen posters, depicts grotesque transformations in which humans living on land merge with marine life, gradually and artificially evolving into organisms altered by microplastics. This process is called an “artificial evolution.” To express the merging of natural and artificial appearances as a medium, this artwork uses layered and digitally drawn images, printed via silkscreen. Photography for the project took place at the boundary between land and sea, representing humanity’s transition between present and future.
