Manners Maketh Monster 2025

Wearable graphic installation

A graphic installation that satirises the behaviour of the public nuisance in Korean subways by dividing their actions into three categories: noise, filth, and the obstruction of space. The graphics are printed on fabric, which is then worn on the body and performed in a monstrous manner. Each piece of fabric in the series features key elements, including long, sternly written guidelines for proper subway etiquette, altered images of texts and patterns from articles and posters, germs, speakers, and barricades. Additionally, vector images of human body parts drawn by hand are incorporated. These body parts are abstractly drawn as vectors and represent organs primarily used for spitting, making loud noises, or obstructing public space. These make them appear as if the body parts are extended and transformed into germ-like, speaker-like, or barricade-like monsters.
